Before touching any wires, you need to set up the control software on your computer.
If you haven’t already, download and install the MADRIX NEO software on your PC.
💡 The installation process is the same as any other Windows program. Simply follow the on-screen prompts and read each page carefully before clicking Next.
Run the installer
Accept the license agreement
Choose your installation directory
Click Install and wait for completion
Once the software installation is finished:
Connect the MADRIX NEO interface to a free USB port on your PC
Locate the MADRIX program on your computer and open it
The software should detect the NEO interface automatically
✅ If everything is working, you’ll see the interface status as “Connected” in the MADRIX window.
Take a moment to look around the MADRIX software window. The layout may seem busy at first, but the key controls are logically placed. Don’t worry about mastering everything at once — we’ll configure just what you need for a basic LED strip.
Click the Preferences tab — you’ll find it at the top of the program
Click Matrix Generator — a new window will open
Under the Placement text field, you’ll see the Count XYZ section with three axes
In the Placement section:
|
Axis |
Value |
|---|---|
|
X |
120 |
|
Y |
1 |
|
Z |
1 |
📌 This tells MADRIX you have a single line of 120 RGB pixels — perfect for a standard DMX512 LED strip layout.
Above the Placement section, you’ll see the word Fixture.
Set your fixture to “Generic RGB 1 Pixel”
Click Apply
Click OK
🎉 That’s it! Your DMX RGB LED strip is now mapped and ready for control inside MADRIX NEO. Not too hard, right?
Now for the hands-on part. Always prioritize safety — make sure no power is running while you work.
Cut the connector off the end of the power cable to expose the copper wires
⚠️ Be careful not to cut the part that connects to the power socket/outlet
Identify the wire with white text/marking on the power cable — this is your positive lead (+)
Mark it clearly so you don’t mix it up
⚡ Double-check: No power should be connected while you strip wires.
Each end of your DMX LED strip needs power:
|
Strip Wire |
Power Wire |
Connection |
|---|---|---|
|
Red (+) |
Positive lead (marked white text) |
✅ Connect together |
|
Black (–) |
Negative/ground lead |
✅ Connect together |
🔧 Make sure each end of the strip has a power connection. For longer runs, inject power at both ends (or at intervals) to prevent voltage drop.
Take a 3-pin to 5-pin DMX adapter (or the correct adapter for your strip)
Connect it to the DMX output of the MADRIX NEO interface
Connect the other end to the DMX data input of your DMX512 LED strip
📌 Remember: DMX carries data only, not power. The strip must have its own 24V power supply connected separately.
✅ Verify all connections are secure
✅ Confirm correct polarity (red to positive, black to negative)
✅ Confirm DMX data is connected to the correct pins
Switch on the power supply
Your DMX RGB LED strip should now light up and respond to MADRIX NEO software controls.
